Fast & Furious 7’s Camaro: From the Big Screen to the Real World

The Fast & Furious, Furious7 Chevrolet Camaro

Some cars are built for speed. Others are built for history. The Fast & Furious franchise has given us plenty of both, and among them is the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 starring in Furious7.

And the Classics team are giving it away!

This isn’t a replica or a tribute build. It’s the actual Camaro from the movie, complete with the markings, modifications, and on-set details that make it a true piece of Hollywood history.

This Furious 7 Camaro has made its way from Hollywood to Australia, and it has a story to tell!

The Furious 7 comes with a commemorative plaque, featuring an article written about this exact car and includes before and after photos.

Modified For The Movies

Originally modified to appear as a 1967 model, the Furious 7 Camaro played a key role in the movie’s high-octane action sequence through the Caucasus Mountains and was driven by “Roman Pierce” AKA actor Tyrese Gibson. It served as the “before” version of the custom 4WD build seen on-screen, with multiple vehicles standing in for the on-screen transformation.

While it may not have been a stunt car, it still carries the battle scars of its time on set, including handwritten scene sequence numbers scribbled on the pillar, a memoir left behind by the production team.

Western Australian Camaro enthusiast Frank Care, a longtime importer of American classics, managed to secure this rare piece of movie history straight from Dennis McCarthy, the man in charge of Fast & Furious 7’s vehicle fleet. Unlike many film cars that disappear into storage or meet their fate in high-speed stunt crashes, this Camaro is a survivor. From chrome tape on the windows to disguise its model year to an exhaust system that can be uncapped for extra volume, it’s a car that tells a story in every detail.

Furious 7 Camaro Commemorative Plaque

Curious about the commemorative plaque that comes with the car?

Here’s what the article says:

WA car’s star role in blockbuster movie no big deal for owner Frank Care.

Next Thursday, a movie long awaited by millions of people will be released and some exotic cars and exotic women, with muscle men and muscle cars. All of them will be doing preposterous things very quickly and with furrowed brows because they’ll be bent on revenge or honour for whatever reason.

When this movie (it’s Fast & Furious 7, if you haven’t guessed) is screening in cinemas worldwide, one of the cars those millions of people will be seeing is right here in WA. It is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro which was modified to look like a 1967 model,

It has been imported by Perth Camaro enthusiast Frank Care who purchased it directly from Dennis Marchant who managed the vehicles in Fast & Furious 7 and appears in this edition.
Mr Care said his car was the one in the movie which the characters has cut up and turned into a 4WD. This was the “before” car with the actual on-screen 4WD version being played by several different vehicles.

“It’s still got the scene sequence number written on the pillar,” Mr Care said.

“They actually write the scene numbers it’s going to be in on the car.

“I do a lot of importing from the US – I’ve been doing this since about 1988 and I love Camaros

“It was just about knowing the right people. I’ve been invited many times to come and meet the crew but I’ve never got around to it.”

He said his car was full of modifications and although they weren’t done with the finest workmanship, that was also part of its appeal

“This is meant to be a 1967 model in the movie but it’s a ‘68. The ‘68s don’t have quarter windows, so on this car, there’s chrome tape on the front side windows to make it look like a ‘67. Also, the exhaust has little caps that unscrew so it becomes louder. Everything from the movie side of it, I haven’t touched.
